About California Parks, our sources, and how to suggest corrections.

An independent guide to California’s public places

California Parks covers the official statewide state-park directory, selected federal and local destinations, and named OpenStreetMap hiking routes. Wider federal and local coverage is still being researched. We combine practical directory information with sourced notices and guides that explain developments relevant to a visit.

We are independent of California State Parks, county park departments, and federal agencies. Follow the managing agency’s current instructions and posted signs at the park.

Information that stays connected

When a documented development affects a park, the park page and related guide use the same underlying notice. We distinguish park-specific impacts from regional and statewide guidance.

Source checks are dated snapshots. Scheduled refresh is not yet enabled. Weather loads separately from the National Weather Service. Our sources and coverage page shows the available inventory and source checks.

Corrections and missing parks

Report a missing park, outdated detail, or incorrect association through our correction email. Include the park name, its county, the page URL, the correction, and an official supporting source if available. Please omit private personal information.

For an immediate operational question, contact the park’s managing agency using its official website.
