Start with the named area
A park can welcome visitors while particular trails remain closed. At Andrew Molera, the reviewed notice identifies East Molera Trail, Old Coast Road, and backcountry east of Highway 1 as closed because of fire impacts and repair work. That notice also discusses campground access separately. Use the affected-area wording to evaluate your planned route; the park name by itself does not tell you whether that route is available.
A trail destination can change
Anza-Borrego’s Borrego Palm Canyon notice says the first palm grove remains closed after fire damage and the trail ends at a viewpoint overlooking the grove. A different notice places the Coyote Canyon Road closure at Third Crossing, 5.2 miles ahead, and warns that parking at the closure gate is limited. These are distinct places and restrictions. A familiar route name or an older trip report is not a substitute for the current official description.
Check again before departing
Compare your itinerary with the official page linked from each notice, including the named road, trail segment, and any repair or fire restrictions. Andrew Molera directs visitors to current highway information and local evacuation resources and prohibits entry to closed areas. Our checked date records when we reviewed the source; it is not a prediction that access will remain the same on your travel date.
